Lipstick for the Soul

Lipstick has always been one of my guilty pleasures. It’s one of those items in my make up repertoire that I can’t get enough of. I have so many lipstick tubes in my drawer for “lips” that I think I may need to expand this drawer.

Think of it as stamp collecting but less boring and much more self-indulgent.

Since I work in a drug store with make up counters, I am always prowling the make up aisle looking for sales on lipstick. Finding out that lipstick is on for 3.99 CAD per tube makes me giddy with happiness.

Does that sound sad?

I am just a lipstick junkie, better lipstick than crack cocaine I suppose.

My ultimate it-factor when it comes to make up is the color of my lips. I have a tendre for red and bright pink lipstick. In fact when I feel like an absolute goddess (which does not happen often), I whip out that red lipstick and slap it on.

I realize that red lipstick is difficult to pull off. In fact, I went through so many different shades of red before I settled on the ones I feel goes with my skin color. I have many shades left untouched after the first application, it’s sitting in lipstick graveyard!

My tips for red lips?

1. Go with the red lipstick that goes well with your skin tone and hair color. Blondes can pull off the very bright red lipstick, which usually contains yellow undertones within the lip shade. Brunettes need to go with the darker and more muted versions of the passionate red lipstick. Basically, the darker your skin tone the darker the red lip shade!

2. Keep the face simple with muted eyeshadows, minimal eyeliner and pack on the mascara. Remember the K.I.S.S. principle! With the minimalistic eye make up, the focus will be on those luscious puckers of yours. Showcase them! After all, that’s why you went with red.

3. Lipliner will be your saviour. Make sure that you have one handy. No one wants to look sloppy with red lipstick. Marilyn Monroe did not become a sex symbol with unlined red lips! Red lips look the best when it is clean.

4. Use a lip brush! Ditto to #3.

5. To make your lipstick stay, when applying foundation apply some on your lips. Dab some loose powder after the foundation application to set the foundation in place. After that, line the lips and apply the red lippies!

6. Lastly, don’t be afraid of the red lipstick. Everyone can pull it off with the right shade, confidence and know how. It took me forever to find my shade, but you don’t have to wait forever to find yours. Ask that expert make up counter girl, she’s getting paid to help you!

Christmas is Coming to THIS House

I am really getting excited. Christmas is coming and in a new house, everything will even be more special. We’re getting new outdoor lights, adding garland to the porch banister, and getting a new tree skirt (YES! Finally. I’ve been persuading my mom to get a new one), and new solar lights (Will install it tomorrow. Can’t wait).

Family Time

It’s so hard to get some family time in recently. My dad leaves every other week by plane and I have a ton of school work. So much so that I don’t even have time to blog. It’s my favorite past time, to write about what’s going on with me and everything around me. It makes me a little sad knowing I don’t have time to blog!

Family and I went to Red Brick Pizza. They have the most AWESOME breadsticks, they are so good and gooey. But there’s more to today than just food, we actually hung out together and took some group pictures. Because what is a family outing without some pictures eh?

Dance Central & Kinect

Okay, I realized that this is my FASHION blog but honestly, I just want to write about this. I MAY post a video of me being stupid on it because apparently, I can’t dance. But before I do that, I did get the 250GB Xbox360 plus the Kinect Sensor. It is an early Christmas gift from my boy.

Can’t get Kinect without Dance Central, so I got that too. Overall, it was an expensive purchase! Anyway, that’s really it. I am glad I am blogging a little, I miss writing for fun instead of writing academic papers.

NYX Dollar Sale Make Up Haul

I got these make up a few months ago during the NYX $1 sale. I got two pairs of eyelashes (it didn’t get shown on the video) and a few items that I’ve been wanting to try out! Overall, I didn’t spend alot and I got so much for my money. I can’t wait for the next NYX sale!

Love + Hate Relationship

I’ve always had a love and hate relationship with falsies. I love them, I can totally imagine myself wearing them.. but it never looks right on me. I’ve bought a few lashes from different brands but my favourite are the NYX falsies. WHY?

I’ve seen so many brands of eyelashes but NYX has alot of really theatrical eyelashes mixed with affordability. I know that NYX falsies come with their own glue but I am more comfortable buying DUO. Maybe I need some of that magic DUO glue before I venture into falsies again. Maybe it’s not my technique but the glue? I may need to get better glue before I totally call myself a falsie failure.

All Over Maybelline Make Up

I never realized how much maybelline I use on my face. Because of the Maybelline Sale, I decided to decide today’s look using Maybelline Make Up.

Ignore the hair. I haven’t gotten to brushing it yet. I was just excited with using ALL Maybelline.
